  • 1 lemon juice
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin ground
  • 1 teaspoon oregano dried
  • 1 dessert spoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic minced (for the sauce)
  • 1/2 lemon juice for the sauce
  • 1 pinch salt for the sauce
  • 5 piece tortilla wraps or Turkish lavash breads for the wrap filling
  • 1 piece cucumber thinly minced
  • 2 pieces tomatoes sliced
  • 1 piece red onion thinly sliced
  • shredded lettuce
  • minth leaves fresh and chopped
  • parsley fresh and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sumac optional
  • red pepper flakes optional
  • pickled vegetables optional
  • black or green olives optional
  • feta cheese crumbled

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, paprika, cumin, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.Place the chicken breasts in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag.Pour the marinade over the chicken, making sure it's evenly coated.Cover the dish or seal the bag and let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes, or ideally, refrigerate overnight for more flavor.
  • In a small bowl, mix the Turkish yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, and salt together until well combined.Adjust the seasoning to your taste, adding more lemon juice or salt if desired.Set the yogurt sauce aside for later use.
  • Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium heat.Remove the marinated chicken from the dish or bag, allowing any excess marinade to drip off.Cook the chicken on the grill or skillet for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until cooked through and nicely browned.Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a cutting board and let it rest for a few minutes.Slice the chicken into thin strips or bite-sized pieces.
  • Warm the tortilla wraps or lavash bread on a griddle or skillet for a few seconds on each side to make them pliable.Lay a warm tortilla flat on a clean surface.Spread a generous amount of the yogurt sauce on the tortilla, leaving a border around the edges.Place a layer of sliced cucumber, tomato, red onion, shredded lettuce, and fresh herbs (mint and parsley) on top of the sauce.Add the sliced cooked chicken on top of the vegetables.Optionally, sprinkle some sumac and red pepper flakes over the fillings for added flavor. If desired, include additional ingredients such as pickled vegetables, olives, or crumbled feta cheese.
  • Fold the sides of the tortilla inwards, then tightly roll it up from the bottom, securing the fillings inside.Preheat a clean skillet or grill pan over medium heat.Place the wrapped tortillas, seam side down, onto the heated skillet or grill pan.Use a spatula or a sandwich press to gently press down on the wraps.Toast each side for a few minutes until the tortilla turns golden brown and crispy, and the fillings are warmed through.Remove the wraps from the heat and let them cool slightly.
  • Cut each toasted chicken wrap in half diagonally.Serve the wraps warm with additional yogurt sauce, if desired. You can also serve them with a side of fresh salad or Turkish-inspired dips like hummus or tzatziki.Enjoy your delicious toasted chicken wraps with a Turkish twist!

Even if this is an easy recipe, some of my tips can maximize the success of your cooking.
Here are my 5 pro tips and trics for you to make the best toasted chicken wrap recipe with a Turkish twist:

Don't Skip The Marination Step: Turkish cuisine is known for its flavorful marinated meats.
Before cooking the chicken, marinate it in a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, paprika, cumin, and oregano.
Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator for maximum flavor.

Use Turkish spices and herbs: You may add  traditional Turkish spices and herbs to enhance the taste of your wrap.
Some popular options include sumac, red pepper flakes, mint, and parsley.
Sprinkle these seasonings on the chicken while it's cooking or add them as a garnish to the wrap for an authentic Turkish flavor.

Maximize The Taste By Making a Yogurt-Based Sauce: Turkish cuisine often incorporates yogurt-based sauces that add creaminess and tanginess to the dishes.
Prepare a delicious sauce by combining Turkish yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.
Be sure to spread this sauce on the wrap before adding the chicken and other ingredients.

Feel Free To Add traditional Turkish toppings: To give your toasted chicken wrap a Turkish flair, include classic Turkish toppings.
Sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, and shredded lettuce are commonly used in Turkish cuisine and provide freshness and crunch to the wrap.
You can also consider adding pickled vegetables, olives, or crumbled feta cheese for extra flavor.

Toast the wrap with care: When toasting the wrap, please be sure to pay attention to the temperature and timing.
Heat a skillet or grill over medium heat and place the assembled wrap on it.

Press it gently with a spatula or a sandwich press to create a crispy exterior and melt the cheese (if included).
Toast it on each side for a few minutes until it turns golden brown and the fillings are warmed through.
